Description:
Hard coral reef dive with lots of overhangs, swimthroughs and little caves to explore.

Edna's Anchor
Depth:
10-30 meters
Description:
A sandpassage that leads at the shallow end into Avarua harbour and to a drop off at the deep end. Big hardcoral formations along the side of the sand give this side a nice contrast. Suitable for the beginner and more experienced diver.
What to see:
Scorpioin fish, Stonefish, Turtles, Whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, Pufferfish and Lionfish.
SS Maitai
Depth:
3-12 meters
Description:
Shallow Wreck dive. The steam ship SSMaitai struck the reef on Christmas eve in 1916. You still can see the rudder, engine, boiler and parts of the super structure.
What to see:
Octopus, Lionfish, Moray eels, Napoleon wrasse, Scorpionfish.
Pue Coral Garden
Depth:
12-25 meters
Description:
Big structures of Porities coral dominate this part of reef and you will see lots of small overhangs.
What to see:
Turtles, Lion fish, Moray eels, Triggerfish, Napoleon wrasse, Whitetip reef sharks.
Ngatipa Reef
Depth:
10-28 meters
Description:
On this site the hard coral structures are bigger than on any of the other sites. You will find overhangs and swim troughs with Lionfish and whitetip reef sharks hiding inside.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Scorpionfish, Triggerfish, Lionfish, Turtles, Moray eels.
Mataora Wreck
Depth:
12-18 meters
Description:
Inter island cargo ship, sunk in 1990 as divesite. Unfortunately because of Cyclones and rough seas it is very well broken up with nice hard coral reef surrounding the wreck site.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Lionfish, Stonefish, Scorpionfish, Moray eels.
Tupapa Sandriver
Depth:
10-30 meters
Description:
Massive sandriver that slopes gradually to the drop off and disappears in the deep blue of the Pacific.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Eagle rays, Napoleon wrasse.
Matavera Wall
Depth:
12-35 meters
Description:
Short Vertical wall that starts at 18 meters and drops into the deep blue with exeptionally good visibility.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Moray eels.
Avana Passage
Depth:
10-25 meters
Description:
Easy reef dive in front of Avana Passage in Muri.Very nice dive for the less experienced diver.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Lionfish, Moray eels, Triggerfish.
Queens Reef
Depth:
10-40 meters
Description:
Vertical wall that starts at 22m and drops down to about 70-80m.
What to see:
Eagle rays, Grey reef sharks, Whitetip reef sharks.
Avaavaroa drop-off
Depth:
12-40 meters
Description:
A long sandriver that ends at a steep drop off at around 25m of depth and disappears into the abyss. Hard coral reef on both sides of the sandriver. Sometimes the current can be strong.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Eagle rays, Giant trevallies, Tunas, Crayfish.
Avaavaroa Passage

12-25 meters
Description:
A small natural passage that makes it possible to dive into the lagoon. A dive for the more experienced diver because of tidal currents.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Eagle rays, Grey reef sharks, Giant trevallies, Star pufferfish, Giant Moray eels.
Papua Drop-off

Description:
A slow sloping drop off that starts at 20 meteres and ends...who knows.
What to see:
Whitetip reef sharks, Turtles, Eagle rays, Barracudas.
Papua Passage
Depth:
12-18 meters
Description:
A natural passage in the reef, with a max. depth of 18 meters. You swim from outside the reef trough a canyon into the lagoon - excellent marine life.
What to see:
Turtles, Whitetip reef sharks, Eagle rays, Moray eels, Hughe pufferfish, Schools of reeffish, Scorpion fish.
Rutaki Drop-off

12-40 meters
Description:
A sandriver that leads to a massive drop-off and falls into the deep blue waters of the south pacific ocean.
What to see:
Tuna, Turtles, Barracuda, Schools of Trevallies, Whitetip reef sharks.
Rutaki Passage
Depth:
12-30 meters
Description:
The deepest of the three passages on the south side of Rarotonga with impressive canyons and swim thoughs.
What to see:
Turtles, Whitetip reef sharks, Crayfish, Barracudas, Stonefish, Lionfish, Schools of reef fish.
Pinnacles

Description:
2 big pinnacles sitting in approximately 22m depth

Arorangi Drop-off
Depth:

Description:
Slow slopin reef with a drop off that starts at25m. This side usually has a little current.

Eagle rays, Titan triggerfish, Whitetip reef sharks, Trevally, Big Snapper.
Arorangi Passage
Depth:
10 meters
Description:
A shallow passage on the west side of Rarotonga. With it's canyons and swim thoughs that make this an interesting sit for the explorer.

Lionfish, Stonefish, Scorpion fish, Whitetip reef sharks.
Sunset Caves
Depth:
5-25 meters
Description:
A shallow sea mount with a 25m long tunnel system in 7-8 meters depth. Interesting site, with heaps of little creatures.
What to see:
Lionfish, Moray eels, Scorpion fish, Whitetip reef sharks, Nudibranches, Turtles.
Maritime Reefer
Depth:
12-25 meters
Description:
Shipwreck in 25meter of water with a nice hardcoral reef around it.
What to see:
Schools of reef fish, Giant Moray eels, Lionfish, Scorpionfish.
Black Rock
Depth:
12-25 meters
Description:
Seamount with a canyon going almost all around it. Lots of overhangs and swimthroughs.
What to see:
Lion fish, Whitetip reef sharks, Scorpionfish, Moray eels.
The Maze
Depth:
6-10 meters
Description:
A combination fo tunnels cutting through the reef with little caves inside them. This side is a good introduction for an overhead environment.
What to see:
Lionfish, Scorpionfish, Whitetip reef sharks, Lobster, Pufferfish.
Runway

Depth:
10-26 meters
Description:
Hardcoral reef with little canyons cutting through. This can be a phantastic dive if the conditons are right.
What to see:
Eagle rays, Turtles, Moray Eels, Turtles, Nudibranch.
